Binnen een nieuw elektrisch voertuigproject zoeken we een Human Machine Interface Development Intern gericht op de interface van een autonoom voertuig. Je werkt aan een scherm dat zowel een hoogwaardige gebruikersinterface voor in het voertuig moet worden, als een praktisch prototyping- en diagnosetool voor ontwikkeling en integratie.

De focus ligt op het ontwikkelen van de software op de embedded linux HMI, met bijzondere nadruk op voertuigdata, signaalverwerking en integratie in het voertuig. Denk aan het uitlezen en visualiseren van CAN-signalen, voertuigstatussen, systeeminformatie en diagnosefuncties, op een manier die zowel technisch bruikbaar als esthetisch passend is binnen een robotaxi-concept.

Wie zijn we

Wij zijn een snelgroeiend bedrijf en gespecialiseerd in het restaureren en customizen van Land Rover Defenders tot in het kleinste detail. Denk aan lederen bekleding, krachtige V8-motoren, speciale velgen en geoptimaliseerde vering. We hebben met succes een elektrische Defender ontwikkeld, maar zijn altijd op zoek om de Defender naar een hoger niveau te tillen en daar kunnen we jouw hulp bij gebruiken.

We zijn op zoek naar

Een WO-student met een achtergrond in computer science, mechatronica, embedded systems, software engineering, of een vergelijkbare technische richting.

• Je hebt interesse in automotive en smart mobility
• Je hebt aantoonbare ervaring of zeer geïnteresseerd in embedded linux
• Je hebt affiniteit met CAN-bus, signaaluitlezing, sensordata of voertuigcommunicatie
• Je vindt het leuk om technische data te vertalen naar een duidelijke en visueel sterke interface
• Ervaring met UI-development, prototyping tools, embedded software of diagnoseomgevingen is een pré
• Je werkt gestructureerd, zelfstandig en vindt het leuk om samen te werken met engineers en designers

Wat ga je doen?

Je ontwikkelt een HMI-scherm voor een autonoom voertuig dat twee functies combineert: een esthetische en intuïtieve voertuiginterface voor eindgebruikers, en een technische tool voor prototyping, diagnose en voertuigontwikkeling.

Als stagiair ga je onder andere:

• Ontwikkelen van een HMI-scherm op automotive grade embedded linux platform voor een autonoom voertuig
• Integreren van voertuigdata, CAN-signalen en systeemstatussen in de interface
• Opzetten van logica voor dataverwerking, signaalinterpretatie en diagnosefuncties
• Vertalen van technische voertuigdata naar een duidelijke en aantrekkelijke gebruikersinterface
• Meedenken over de gebruikerservaring in een robotaxi-context
• Ondersteunen bij de integratie van het scherm in het voertuig
• Testen, valideren en verbeteren van de HMI tijdens prototyping en voertuigontwikkeling
• Samenwerken met engineering, design en vehicle integration

Dit is een technische en creatieve stage waarin embedded software, voertuigdata, interface design en autonomous vehicle development samenkomen.

Internship HMI Development – Autonomous Vehicle Interface

As part of an innovative electric vehicle project, we are looking for a Human-Machine Interface (HMI) Development Intern to help develop the interface for an autonomous vehicle. You will work on a display system that serves both as a high-quality in-vehicle user interface and as a practical prototyping and diagnostic tool for development and integration purposes.

The focus of this internship is the development of software for an embedded Linux-based HMI, with a strong emphasis on vehicle data, signal processing, and vehicle integration. This includes reading, processing, and visualizing CAN signals, vehicle states, system information, and diagnostic data in a way that is both technically useful and visually aligned with a future robotaxi concept.

Who we are

We are a rapidly growing company specializing in restoring and customizing Land Rover Defenders to the finest detail. Think leather upholstery, powerful V8 engines, special rims, and optimized suspension. We have successfully developed an electric Defender and are always striving to elevate the Defender to a higher level, and we need your help to achieve that.

What we are looking for

We are seeking a university (WO/MSc/BSc) student with a background in:

• Computer Science
• Mechatronics
• Embedded Systems
• Software Engineering
• Or a related technical field

You:

• Have a strong interest in automotive technology and smart mobility
• Have experience with, or a strong interest in, embedded Linux development
• Have an affinity for CAN bus systems, vehicle communication, sensor data, or signal processing
• Enjoy translating complex technical data into clear and visually appealing interfaces
• Have experience with UI development, prototyping tools, embedded software, or diagnostic environments (preferred)
• Work in a structured and independent manner
• Enjoy collaborating with engineers, designers, and integration teams

What will you do?

You will develop an HMI display for an autonomous vehicle that combines two key functions: an intuitive and attractive user interface for passengers, and a technical platform for prototyping, diagnostics, and vehicle development.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing an HMI application on an automotive-grade embedded Linux platform for an autonomous vehicle
• Integrating vehicle data, CAN signals, and system status information into the interface
• Designing and implementing data processing, signal interpretation, and diagnostic functionality
• Translating technical vehicle information into a clear and engaging user experience
• Contributing ideas for the user experience within a robotaxi environment
• Supporting integration of the HMI system into the vehicle
• Testing, validating, and continuously improving the HMI throughout prototyping and vehicle development phases
• Collaborating closely with engineering, design, and vehicle integration teams
