Stripping down one of the Defender donor cars to the bare body. The Land Rover Defender is disassembled, and all parts are inspected to determine their condition and identify any areas that need restoration or replacement. Components of the Defender that can be reused are stored in a box with a name tag on it. In this way parts and body will stay together.
The bodywork means that rust and corrosion are removed. The body panels will most often be restored. At The Landrovers we’ll never repair parts; we deliver a completely restored Land Rover Defender. The Defender’s frame however, is always reinforced to ensure structural integrity – since the restored vehicle has to be safe with a Corvette V8 engine and at high speed.
The engine is sometimes overhauled but usually brand new. At this stage, we’ll replace worn-out parts and the fuel system, and recondition or renew the cooling system of the restored Land Rover Defender.
