For the love of the Defender

“My love for Defenders really grew out of my love for vintage cars in general. My first car ever was a 1973 Bronco, and it taught me how special it is to drive something with character that feels open and alive. The Defender has that same spirit: timeless, adventurous and made to be shared. 

What I love most about cars like these is that they turn any drive into a treat, whether it’s a long trip or just running errands with the people I love. 

The real turning point was a trip to Africa in 2020. We explored in open-air safari vehicles: custom 4x4s built on classics like the Land Rover Defender and the Land Cruiser. I became obsessed. I loved how open they felt and how many of us could pile in together. 

Not long after, I came across The Landrovers on Instagram, and I knew I had to have one of my own. It was the creativity of The Landrovers that sparked my imagination; how much freedom I had to dream big, the endless world of options and the incredible attention to detail. 

I loved their work, and I wanted to create my own variation alongside them. That’s exactly what we did. When I look at this car, I see myself.  

I had been saving close-ups of Harris Tweed on Pinterest for colour inspiration for another creative project. Then I saw the Harris Tweed you used for Panterra Defender Strawberry i just fell in love. I thought it would be such a cute touch. But the real starting point for my Defender ‘Natalia’ was my love for the colour yellow. It’s been my favourite since I was little, and I wanted a car that felt like me. 

What adventure truly is 

For me, it’s that mix of adrenaline and nature. It’s rolling the windows down, or taking the doors off, and driving somewhere beautiful: winding roads, open views, a sunset that stops you in your tracks, or the middle of a park with nothing around you. It’s that rush of going somewhere new while feeling completely immersed in nature.  

I’m so excited! My Defender is going to take me on the most amazing road trips. I want to travel everywhere in it and take it on as many adventures as possible. I’m dreaming of driving it all the way to Glacier National Park! 

My partner, Ryan, and I have a dream to visit as many national parks as we can in our lifetime, and this car is going to be our companion as we make that happen. Honestly, I can’t think of a more perfect car for it. 

The most personal gift

I’ve been waiting for this car for so long, and the past two years have had a lot of ups and downs. Through all of it, designing this car was something I could escape into, picturing all the incredible adventures I’d have with the people I love most. It’s the embodiment of my wildest dreams. 

Honestly, I never thought I’d have such a cool car, and I still can’t believe it’s mine. I’m just so happy and grateful!

Where is this dream taking you?

A few years from now, I hope my Defender ‘Natalia’ and I will have gone on as many adventures as possible. I’m so excited to see how she fits into every stage of my life. 

I can’t wait to take my dogs on adventures, along with everyone from my inner circle. And maybe, a few years down the road, I’m looking forward to driving my future kids around in her and sharing both the big adventures and the everyday moments together.” 

For us and Natalia, building this dream Defender was so much more than a car created for a single chapter. It is truly designed to grow alongside her: carrying dogs, friends and family on everyday drives, unforgettable road trips and adventures that are yet to be imagined.
