Defender models: the three most distinctive Land Rovers

Understanding character, proportion and bespoke intent across the most important Defender models. Learn about the the most iconic models and explore our bespoke masterpieces: the Defender 90, 110 and 130.

Within the Land Rover lineage, few vehicles carry as much cultural weight as the Defender. Yet the term Defender does not describe a single idea. It refers to a family of three, each shaped by proportion, use and environment. Traditionally, this family is defined by three core models: the 90, 110 and 130, numbers referring to the wheelbase in inches.

At The Landrovers, these foundations are respected although we make many modifications to improve driving behavior, stability, safety and ensure quality. But we also like to dream, we like the adventure of exploring the unknown. So we reinterpreted the Defender 110 model with three extra adventurous options: Beachdrifter, Bigfoot and the station wagon 110. Together, these iconic cars express the full breadth of what a Defender from The Landrovers can be.

Defender 90 – the most compact of the Defender models

Among all Defender models, the Defender 90 is the most intimate. Its short wheelbase creates agility and a direct connection between driver, vehicle and terrain. Historically chosen for its manoeuvrability, the 90 thrives where space is limited and precision matters.

Examples of our bespoke Defender 90 models are: Discidium, the first Defender 90 with an automatic sliding roof and Shrek.

Defender 110 – the balanced one

Often regarded as the most versatile of all Defender models, and by far the most popular model in the Defender range. Its longer wheelbase adds comfort and stability while preserving the classic Defender proportions. This makes it suitable for long-distance travel, daily use and exploration alike.

At The Landrovers all customers can opt for the Luxury Lion Bench, offering increased legroom and a more refined seating position. This in-house developed seat base enhances comfort for rear passengers without compromising balance or proportion.

Recent Defender 110 models are Vesper, our latest ultra-bespoke creation and Crigioloti, named after the owners four children.
